Professional Experience

Doug runs his own business, History Development Pty Ltd, with a focus on oral history. He is currently the manager of the oral history programme for Engineering Heritage Australia and is also working on a number of oral histories.

Doug has been actively involved in the Electric Energy Society of Engineers Australia and the Friends of The Museum of Childhood. He is a member of the History Council of WA, a WA Branch member of the Oral History Association of Australia, and a member of the Toodyay Historical Society.


Over the last seven years he has completed a wide range of oral history work gaining considerable experience in interviewing techniques and the recording and transcription process over a wide range of subjects. He tends to work in the engineering and technical area but considers himself as very broadly based with a general interest in the social sciences.


Doug has also conducted several oral history training workshops in the city and in regional centres.
